Early Christmas Stockings

It's Christmas in July!!

To me, it's always unusual when Christmas fabrics arrive, to the quilt shops, in the summer.  But it does make sense!  When you are planning on making a Christmas project, like a quilt, it will be wise to start it early, in the summer.  That way you can be sure it will be completed by Christmas morning.

I've made some more store samples.  These Christmas stockings were made from the fabric collection called Tis the Season, from Studio E Fabrics.

I have made two versions of this stocking - a solid version (for a beginner quilter) and a pieced version (for a more experienced quilter).  I added some straight-line quilting to add a little texture to them.

These stockings were very simple to sew together and didn't take much time at all.  If you wanted to make several to line a fireplace mantel, for example, you could do that in a short period of time.
