Birthday Mystery Quilt - Block 38

In this week's block, I think this is the most prints we've used in one block. There was 14 fabrics used!

A variety of 1-inch blocks were used in this block with two different backgrounds. I like how the squares were placed diagonally going down the block.

Birthday Mystery Quilt - Block 32, 33, and 34

I have quite a bit of catching up to do with my Birthday blocks. Although I had other projects that I had to accomplish, I'm still going to fit in my weekly Birthday blocks.

I was excited when I saw block 33. It was a block that was using hand-stitching. I hadn't had a project with hand-stitching, other than stitching on binding on quilts.

I love hand-piecing a quilt block, but I really needed to have more than 7 days. I still needed to finish the block by the time the next block was posted.

Little Quilts Project - Little Garden - Part One

So sorry for being MIA. I've started a small project that has taken quite a while to finish. It is a hand-stitch project, and I've enjoyed it tremendously.

I had purchased a Little Quilts Club quilt from Laundry Basket Quilts. I'm creating a wall in my sewing room with miniature quilts, and I thought this quilt would be a perfect addition to the wall. Although it is perfect as-is, I still wanted to reproduce it a little bit small than the original.

The hexagons are tiny. The hexagons I produced has 3/8-inch sides, while the original has 1/2 -inch sides.

The pattern used paper-piecing to construct the hexagons, but I wanted to do it differently. With a Frixion pen, I used a plastic template and drew the hexagons, with its seam allowances, on the fabric.

By hand, I hand tacked the sides of each hexagon. Once I got into the sequence of the construction, the sewing went rather smoothly. Not quickly, but smoothly.

I'm loving how it is slowly coming together.

Birthday Mystery Quilt - Block 29, 30, and 31

I've gotten a bit busy these last weeks. During these summer days, I've made a trip to see family. Although I was not able to bring my sewing machine with me, I did bring a cross-stitch project with me. Sewing projects, like this one, had to wait until I was back home.

So, to catch up on the Birthday blocks, here are Blocks 29, 30, and 31.
