Birthday Mystery Quilt Idea

I haven't started the Birthday Mystery quilt, from Laundry Basket Quilts, yet. I have told myself that I wouldn't start mine until my birthday month in March.  So, I have a long two month wait.  I'm hoping to get a few projects done before I start on it.

So far, Edyta has introduced 5 blocks.  They are made using her Cocoa Blue fabric collection, and I will, as well.  She is using a light background fabric (Linen Texture 9057-L3) in the samples she has been showing.  She has also suggested using a taupe background (Linen Texture 9057-N3).  I love the color of taupe, so I have been debated which color to use.

Then I was thinking, if I make two blocks, one in light and another in taupe, I may be able to alternate the colors.

If I choose this color setting, I'll have a second set of blocks that won't be used.  I'm going to have to think of another project that I can use them in.  At the end of the year, Edyta had said that there may be different layouts for this quilt.  If I'm lucky, I may have two quilts made will these blocks!

Farm Girl Vintage - Winter Star Block

It's back to my Farm Girl Vintage quilt.  I didn't mean to hesitate in restarting this quilt, but I seemed to have a lot on my plate, the last few weeks.  I wished I didn't wait so long.  I have a lot to do to check up.

When I started this series of four blocks, I didn't realize there were all four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and spring.  We're in the middle of freezing temperatures of January, so I thought Winter Star block would be the perfect block to piece.

To go along with Winter Star block, I'm adding Summer Star block, Autumn Star block, and Spring Star block.

With these four blocks added, it's starting to look full!

What?! Another Quilt Project? Birthday Quilt 2024

Wouldn't you know...I've been enticed by another quilt, but I shouldn't be surprised!

My latest quilting obsession, Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts, has started a new project for the new year.  She will be celebrating her birthday with a Birthday Mystery quilt.

Every Tuesday of 2024, she will reveal a 6-inch block.  There will be 55 blocks in 52 weeks.  She will be using her fabrics from the Cocoa Blue collection.

Although I won't be starting this quilt right away, my plan is to start it in March, my birthday month.  I'll purchase a fat quarter bundle of the Cocoa Blue fabric as a gift to myself!! Hopefully by that point, I'll be a lot closer to finishing my Farm Girl Vintage quilt.

She has already posted her first block.

54 more to go!!  I can't wait!

A Christmas Gift

A very special young lady had told me that her sewing machine was giving her some grief.  I had her machine checked at my local quilt shop and the issue seems to be fixed.  Before I returned her sewing machine, I had to add something extra.  Since this was going to be her secondary machine, I had to make a cover for her machine.

It was only a few days before Christmas, so I had a short amount of time to make it as a Christmas gift.  I had spotted a post on Pinterest from The Patchsmith, of a sewing machine she had made.

It was very cute and functional, and I knew it was the style I wanted to make.  I had looked through my fabric stash and found some sewing themed fabrics.  Luckily, I did have small pieces of batting to use with it.

I quilted straight vertical lines on the body of the cover and quilted diamonds on the sides.

On one side of the cover, I had placed a pocket.

And the other side, I had placed a zippered pocket.

Since she will be setting this machine aside for a while, it will have a cover to keep it dust free until the next time she will need to use it.

Baby Tahoe Quilt - Diamond #13

Happy New Year!  And it's time to get back to my Baby Tahoe quilt.

I am now at Diamond #13.

I don't know what it is about these diamonds, I just can't stop making them.  Even if, there are other things that have to be done, I've got to find the time to make another set of diamonds.

Till next time,
